Este proceso busca reducir la migración peligrosa y promover la unidad familiar.

 

¿Por qué este proceso es importante?


La idea es proteger y promover la unidad familiar. En lugar de arriesgarse a viajes peligrosos, este proceso ofrece una vía legal para reunirse con tus seres queridos. Pero si intentas entrar ilegalmente a Estados Unidos, podrías enfrentar consecuencias severas.

 

¿Quién puede aplicar?


Aquí es donde debes prestar mucha atención. Puedes ser considerado si:

  1. Eres ecuatoriano y tienes familiares en Estados Unidos que son ciudadanos o residentes permanentes legales.

  2. Tienes un Formulario I-130, llamado Petición de Familiar Extranjero, que ha sido aprobado.

  3. No has recibido aún una visa de inmigrante.

  4. Estás fuera de Estados Unidos.

  5. Tienes un pasaporte vigente y válido para viajar al exterior.

Además, debes someterte a un examen médico y a verificaciones de antecedentes. Y muy importante, tu familiar en Estados Unidos debe haber recibido una invitación especial para iniciar este proceso.

 

¿Y después de recibir el permiso?


Si todo sale bien y recibes el permiso, podrás permanecer en Estados Unidos por un máximo de tres años de manera temporal. Durante ese tiempo, puedes trabajar legalmente y, cuando tu visa esté lista, solicitar la residencia permanente.
